Following the emergence of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the governorship election in the state, the PDP had filed an ex-parte motion seeking the inspection of ballot papers used in the election.
In line with the court ruling, the inspection of the ballot papers commenced at the INEC state headquarters in Benin.
However, representatives of the APC were said to be absent as the ruling party has filed a petition before the tribunal to challenge the commencement of the exercise.
Reacting to the absence of APC’s representatives, PDP’s lawyer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, in a chat with reporters said it opted to go ahead with the earlier court directive because APC’s suit had not been heard by the court.
